We've been doing so many things lately. We've even forgotten to recap our press! Well, it's never too late for that. Especially when there's something so exciting to talk about.
Our current show, Dirty Dirty Love, has a attracted a little attention... from a different country! Brazilian blog Ideafixa seems to really like artist Reuben Negron. We had to run it through a translator, since we don't speak Portuguese, but that doesn't change how flattered we are! A gallery likes to feel international, after all. Remember that we've extended the show, and Dirty Dirty Love now runs until July 12th.
Also of note is our offsite show at the 92nd Street Y in Tribeca. The lovely Colette Robbins and the just as lovely Dean Goelz are joined together in a fantastic show made up of their very latest works. Some of you might remember that we blogged about it before. Well, Dean and Colette will soon be stopping by the 92nd Street Y to talk about their work. On Thursday, June 25th, come enjoy a discussion with Dean and Colette. Just $5 holds your place in advance. If you've never met them, you have to go. If you have met them, you have to go again. We can't stress it enough: these two are so great in person.
Keep in mind that we're gonna be open all Summer long (except Tuesdays) and we want to see YOU! If nothing else, be sure to stop in on July 17th for opening night of Off The Clock! And make your reservations now for Assisted Dining, coming on July 24th. Remember, even though the weather is cool, we're still hot!

northside festival weekend!
We had a super busy weekend at Like the Spice and we're amped to tell you all about it!
On Friday night we hosted the "Sex Toy Party," which featured titillating "adult" information from our experts, as well as a fantastic live karaoke performance from...all our audience members!
Saturday was Crest Fest, presented by Crest Hardware (the show is ongoing, check it out here). All the galleries in the Williamsburg Gallery Association turned out to show their support. And we danced in the rain!
And on Hangover Sunday Like the Spice hosted the awesome, Holy Holy Vine from Baltimore, MD.
Pedestrians and onlookers stuck around to enjoy their sweet sounds and it was the perfect sunny Sunday afternoon everyone needed.
June's not over yet! Don't forget to stop by Like the Spice, we've still got lots planned for the rest of this month!

philly-night at the gallery
On Thursday the 11th Like the Spice took part in "philly-night."
The night was in large thanks to the "curators of music" Gabriel Rodriguez and Ava Hassinger, who were kind enough to find the talent from Philadelphia (hence the "philly-night"), and it was quite the talent. Bleep Blop THUD and Alien Architecht DJed the gallery and proceeded to impress onlookers, providing great beats for everyone at Like the Spice.
With the live music and Amstel Light courtesy of The Northside Festival and The L Magazine, we proceeded to rock the night away and, on top of all this, the weekend is not even over yet.
The DJ's aren't stopping on the 11th; Crest Fest will be going on all throughout Saturday the 13th in Macri Park and is going to be filled with live music and fantastic art. So, grab some food from the vendors and come on out to support the vast amount of arts here in Williamsburg and the refurbishment of Macri Park. Now, if you where unable to join us at Philly-Night, and you're just too busy to take park in Crest Fest, then don't you worry yourself because we still have one more event taking place on Sunday the 14th. Baltimore bands Holy Holy Vine and the Expotentials will pick up where the others left off and keep the masses entertained. Come by on the 14th and join us at Like the Spice for some great music, tasty drinks, and even better company. Hope to see you there.

wine.woot tasting
On Friday evening Like the Spice teamed up with wine.woot for an awesome tasting event at the gallery. And the rain didn't stop us: we had over 150 attendees and live musical accompaniment by Tony Hightower!
woot.wine featured a special sneak peek of their new white, Triacipedis (say it out loud, hehe) which turned out to be a huge success! The gallery was packed upstairs and downstairs with guests returning for seconds and thirds of the new blend.
And although guests were a little soggy at first, everyone dried off enough to have a great time. Some guests even made friends with the woot monkeys! So much fun!! Stay posted and we'll catch you next time!

Dirty, Dirty Dinner
Last Friday, Like the Spice slipped out of its gallery garments and donned its silk stockings for a sexy little dinner party in honor of Reuben Negron: Dirty Dirty Love. Nothing's hotter than the attraction of opposites, and we were treated to a fusion-style meal catered by Brooklyn's best Chinese kitchen, M.Shanghai and the Mediterranean themed Malta. We savored a ménage à trois of juicy, bite-sized dumplings and a tasting plate of paellas, finishing with an indulgent dripping trio of chocolate fondues.
If that doesn't have you hot under the collar, remember that the entire sinful meal was served in surroundings that would have the Marquis de Sade trembling in his breeches. Negron's series of technically masterful watercolors are sexy yet sweet, piercing but tender, and were a truly thought-provoking complement to the wine and Perrier that kept us lounging, rosy and sated in the gallery, until well past our bedtimes.
"Dirty Dirty Love" is still waiting for you at Like the Spice. Even if you missed the dinner, perhaps you crave the titillation and raw physical honesty that "Dirty Dirty Love" has to offer? Don't forget - next Friday we'll be presenting a selection of utterly fascinating artifacts designed for your pleasure.
Come.

Seriously, We Don't Actually Sleep
We'd like to, but there's just so much going on! Let's discuss.
Next Friday, May 29th, at 8:00pm, we've got our next installment of the Monthly Dinner Series: F**K Dinner, featuring artist Reuben Negrón. As always, we're serving family-style in the gallery itself. And you know how great previous dinners were, right? If you don't, plan to come out and learn! Make your reservation without hesitation because we often fill up fast, and there's already a line forming. You don't want to miss the surprise we've got planned!
Then get ready, because on the night of Friday, June 5th, LtS has a brand new BFF! We're welcoming wine.woot.com for a very special advance tasting of their upcoming white, and you'll have a chance to be among the very first palates that will enjoy a taste. Wine.woot is very excited to be joining us in Brooklyn, so we want to give them a warm welcome. Plan now so you can be here then!
Finally, have you been paying attention to 44 Berry Street, at the corner of Berry and North 11th? For those of you who haven't, get ready, because Like the Spice and aptsandlofts.com are working together to present APT 44B, an art exhibit designed to show how beauty begins at home. Highlighting the traditional role of the loft in the history and romanticism of the New York art scene, Like the Spice Gallery has solicited work from local artists that pursues unexpected interpretations of the varied accoutrements of modern living. Artists have been encouraged to use the rooms, the architectural/industrial details, and the fabric of the living spaces to weave their personal statements and pieces into apartments that are currently for rent. If you've ever wondered how you could make your personal life a bit more artistic, this is the show for you. Apt 44B starts up on Thursday, June 4th and you'll love it.
And what's after that? You'd except us to answer "we sit down for a bit", but no! Rest is not part of the Like the Spice way! Instead, we'll be chasing down The Northside Festival from June 11th - June 13th. We'll have some band infomation for you later, but save those dates... for rock!
We work so hard for you, but what's the point if you're not here to enjoy it? Plan now to come and have some fun with us during these early summer days. We're looking forward to your smiling faces, because that makes it all worthwhile. And don't forget to make that dinner reservation right now!

Look At Our Opening
Did that come out wrong? All we meant was that on May 22nd, we hosted an opening night party for Reuben Negrón: Dirty Dirty Love. It was ever so wholesome. There was even a dog and a baby!
Reuben and Naomi are brand new parents. He's having a great year, isn't he? And that baby is a complete angel. Not even a peep while Reuben attempted to juggle fatherhood and career in the face of an art-loving crowd.
We were very pleased to see both old and new faces all night long. And look at all the special surprise guests!
Here's Jenny Morgan telling everyone how she always knew Reuben was going to be a star.
Dean Goelz is totally hitting on you. You know he talks about you all the time. Be sure to visit his work at the 92nd St Y in Tribeca, where he and Collette Robbins are currently on display. You won't be sorry.
The elusive-yet-happy Chadwick Whitehead stopped in for a bit as well! It's always a pleasure. We even got to catch up with Johnna MacArthur (that's her hiding in the lower right corner).
We're pretty sure everyone had a great time, from the critics-
to the brand new mommies. And if you weren't there, keep in mind that Dirty Dirty Love is on display until June 21st. And we're going to give you plenty of excuses to come visit. Keep watching, details are on the way...
