TABITHA VS. The Art Dog World

James Wagner Writes:

Although it took a few minutes of walking about the space and talking to Martin, probably the sweetest gallery dog in New York, I eventually became so taken with this work that I found it very difficult to leave. That doesn't happen very often, no matter how much I like a show.

Oly Writes:

He is pretty sweet.
(isn't he a cross between a German Shepherd and a Welsh Corgi or something??)
But I have to say that Tabitha, the Beagle pupster, at Like the Spice is pretty darn precious herself.

There should be a whole page devoted to gallery animals-- that would be great.

OK Oly, not only will we devote a page to my dear Tabitha but she just barked BRING IT ON
Post any and all gallery dog, cat, hamster, or goldfish photos within the comments of this blog and we'll let the general public vote!

xoxo Tabitha and the Like the Spice crew.

P.S. No dog or cat with baby pics, Todd & Melissa, thats cheating!

P.S.S. This is the perfect time to unveil our next group show at Like the Spice Gallery, opening Saturday December 15th, Deer Art: animal imagery in contemporary art. Animals seem to be everywhere in the art world right can't spit at an art fair without hitting two deers, a bear and probably a sasquatch....there seems to be an urgency to animal and nature imagery right now. This mixed media group show will cement on the relationships between anthropomorphic animals/animals-as-people and animals as symbols of nature in kitch, spiritual, and noble ways.

Like the Spice has a history of making guests feel special. Now we want to treat you right. Come enjoy a catered dinner that's positively soaked in art, featuring an organic delights, performance art group House of Malcontents, and artist Jason Bryant.

Served family style, our dinner series is designed to let you enjoy the hoi poloi. First you'll be challenged by House of Malcontents. Previously appearing at Like The Spice, this performance art team has turned a subway car into a comfy home and held a tea party in Central Park, as well as making a cloud filled sky in a room at the Whitney. House of Malcontents plans to turn the whole dinner into a piece, and even though they are keeping it secret, we have heard rumors of edible artwork and interactive serving...

Joining HOM will be Jason Bryant, artist of our current show, Fleshpot. Jason's work inspires thoughtful consideration of the sort of images we've become used to tuning out, and will make for a striking backdrop, just as his knowledge of art and theory will lead us easily into intelligent conversation. We are very pleased to have him.

Our sponsor for the night is Pernod, so drink up! Somebody as pretty as you deserves a little fun.
